AEV Flat Tow Recovery Points for EX/RX Front Bumper
Requires AEV EX/RX front bumper.
Flat tow your Jeep without giving up a true recovery point.
For JL Wrangler and Gladiator owners running an AEV EX or RX Front Bumper, the AEV Flat Tow Recovery Points provide an engineered way to connect a compatible tow bar directly to the bumper—without custom fabrication, drilling, or sacrificing off-road recovery capability.
Designed as a direct replacement for the standard EX/RX recovery points, these components reposition the attachment interface farther outward to provide the clearance and articulation required for flat towing behind an RV or motorhome. Once you arrive, disconnect the tow bar and hit the trail with fully functional recovery points still in place.
One Attachment Point. Two Jobs.
The AEV Flat Tow Recovery Points combine tow-bar attachment and off-road recovery functionality in a single, application-specific component. Integrated safety-chain attachment points further simplify the setup, creating a clean, purpose-built system without adding brackets below the bumper or compromising ground clearance.
Rather than adapting a universal solution to an AEV bumper, these recovery points were engineered specifically around the EX/RX Front Bumper and the requirements of JL Wrangler and JT Gladiator applications.
Retrofit Your Existing AEV Bumper
Already have an EX or RX Front Bumper? You do not need to replace it.
The Flat Tow Recovery Points bolt into the location of the original recovery points using the existing mounting arrangement. No cutting. No drilling. No custom fabrication. No additional mounting hardware.
It is a straightforward way to add flat-tow capability to an existing AEV-equipped Jeep while preserving the integrated design and recovery functionality of the bumper system.
Engineered for Tow-Bar Clearance
The standard EX/RX recovery points are positioned to maximize off-road clearance and approach angle. That location, however, limits the upward articulation required by a flat-tow system.
AEV’s Flat Tow Recovery Points move the attachment location outward just enough to provide the necessary tow-bar movement while retaining excellent front-end clearance. Approach angle changes from approximately 58.7° with the standard recovery points to 54.13° with the Flat Tow Recovery Points, while ground clearance remains uncompromised.
Compatible by Design
The recovery points are designed for tow-bar adapters with a:
- 1-inch inner width
- 7/8-inch attachment pin
Compatible adapter options include:
- Blue Ox Off Road Bumper Adapter Kit — Part #BX88357
- Roadmaster Off Road Bumper Kit — Item #035-1 (1-inch-thick “D” tab)
These adapter options allow the recovery points to interface with compatible Blue Ox and Roadmaster flat-tow systems. Always confirm the dimensions and compatibility of the specific towing equipment before use and follow the tow-bar manufacturer’s installation and operating instructions.
Built for the Highway—and What Comes After It
Flat towing is only part of the trip. AEV designed these recovery points for the vehicle you intend to drive once you get there.
Each recovery point retains full off-road recovery functionality and features a durable corrosion-resistant finish system consisting of zinc coating, E-coat, and textured black powder coat for long-term protection in demanding environments.
